COACH FARESThe coach fare will normally be  ten pounds ( £10.00) per adult,  and five pounds (£5.00) per child. Please note however that a reservation (unless cancelled) will be regarded as a commitment to pay the fare whether or not you turn up.

Saturday 19th April 2008

Strathpeffer to Garve      Rating - easy  Distance 8 miles  OS Map  26    479 573  to  O.S Map 20 395 613

The route is through pine forest and alongside Loch Garve. Mostly level and on good paths.   There is a short detour to the Rogie Falls.

Sunday 11th May 2007

Broadcairn summit – high level walk.         Rating - moderate    Distance approx 10 miles.   OS Map 44.  311 850 (circular)

The climb to this moderate Munro starts and finishes from the Spittal of Glen Muick.

The Loch Muick Circuit – lower level walk.             Rating - moderate   Distance approx 8 miles.     OS Map 44  310 851 (circular)

This walk  is on generally good paths around a large inland loch in a steep, narrow glen.

Friday 16th – Sunday 18th  May

Saturday 31st May

Achnaschellach to Annat     Rating – moderate to strenuous  Distance approx. 11 miles.     OS Maps 42 & 24  001 484 to 895 545.                              

This  walk is on good tracks with a steep incline at the beginning. Excellent views of Torridon.

Wednesday 18th June

Moray Ramblers’  20th anniversary – walk and celebration.      This will be a car meet.  Meet at Torrieston car park at 6.30pm for approx 4 miles’ walk in the Monoughty Forest.   This walk will be followed by an informal party in the lounge of Elgin Town Hall from 8.30pm until 11pm. Bring drinks and nibbles and photos and memories of Moray rambling over the last 20 years. Former Moray Ramblers are most welcome to join the party.

Saturday 21st June

Loch Affric Circuit   - the mid summer outing.    Rating – moderate.  Distance 11 miles   OS Map 25      200 233 (circular)

This walk is on a fairly level route with magnificent scenery, including native Caledonian pine forest.   The walk will be followed by a meal at The Cnoc Hotel.  The cost of the 3 course meal will be £15.

Sunday 13th July

Erchless Castle to Aultgowrie     Rating – moderate to strenuous.  Approx. 12 miles.    O.S. Map 26   411 408 to 478 509 . 

This route goes across country from Erchless Castle to Aultgowrie, mainly along paths and tracks and via Loch Ballach. There is one short rough walk section.

Saturday 2nd August

Glen Girnock     Rating -   moderate  Distance approx. 10 miles.    O.S. Map 44  325 957 (circular)

The Girnock valley is a hidden valley just over the hill from Balmoral.  The walk, mainly on good tracks, winds its way through wonderful open moorland with views of distant hills, including Lochnagar.

Sunday 24th August

Cockbridge to Tomintoul          Rating - easy  Approx 12 miles        O.S. Map 37        257 090 to OS Map 36 170 183

This is a straightforward walk along good tracks and estate roads by the banks of the River Avon.

Saturday 13th September 

Scalp to Glass       Rating -   moderate  Distance approx 8 miles.       O.S Map 28   375 397   to  423 390

This walk goes up over the summit of the Scalp and down to Glass via Glenmarkie.  Mainly on track but some rough walking for a short section.

Sunday 5th October 

Knockando Estate Walk        Rating -easy   Approx.  8 miles    OS Map 28  171 452 to 173 410

Starting near Aldivonie Farm and ending at Kirkdellbeg, this fine easy route crosses moorland and is all on good tracks with superb panoramic views.

Saturday 25th October

Meall a’ Buchaille  Circular.    Rating   moderate to strenuous  Approx 10 miles    OS Map 36          977 099   (circular)

From the Glenmore visitor centre to Ryvoan bothy, then climbing steeply to Meall a’ Buchaille, along via Creagan Gorm to Craiggowrie and descending back to the visitor centre via Bagaduish Outdoor Centre.
